Lagos residents cart away coronavirus food items from warehouse
Lagos residents on Thursday stormed the warehouse where coronavirus food items kept in Monkey Village, Maza maza, in Amuwo Odofin and carted them away for their personal consumption in their various homes.
Penpushing reports that, the carted food items and with;Cacovid,Not for Sale’, include: bags of rice, macaroni, spaghetti, salt, garri, sugar and cartons of noodle, while residents were seen trooping into the warehouse to have their own shares.
The food items launched in March is a private sector-led organisation established to assist the government in combating the coronavirus disease.
Penpushing further reports that, a resident in the area said, “Some people came to the warehouse this morning to carry some items, they always come there to carry every time. People were begging them and they refused, so when they left, they broke into the warehouse. The government stocked food there while people are suffering.”
