Don’t depend solely on government’s security, be proactive, activist lawyer tells Nigerians

A legal practitioner Barrister Habeeb Whyte has called on Nigerians no to solely rely on government to provide sound and adequate security for them, rather they should see it as a challenge they on their  own should take serious and  be committed to.

 Penpushing reports that, Whyte made the call as a guest lecturer at security lecture series organized by the Sabo-Ilupeju Division of Abeokuta Metro of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC),held in Abeokuta.

The guest lecturer who is the State Legal Adviser of the body pointed out that if the government has failed the governed, they(governed) should as well not fail themselves, rather should be proactive in addressing the menace of criminality

“If the government has failed us as Nigerians, we should not fail ourselves. Security issue is everyone’s business.. It is our duty as Nigerians to serve our country with all sincerity because no matter how we pray or fast, our country cannot grow without some of us deciding to do the hard work that would make our nation work’, he stated

Penpushing further reports that, he advised citizens to stop complains about government, recalling that he was once a victim of  police brutality, but said that experience would not stop him  from relating with the Police Community Relations Committee for the betterment of the society.

The legal practitioner pointed out the benefits of community policing, stressing that community policing builds better working relationships with communities, adding that in view of this it is the responsibilities of the citizens to serve the country with sincerity of purpose..

.Penpushing also reports that, Whyte thanked the organizers for extending an invite to him and commended the role of the Chairman of the body in the state Architect Samson Popoola on his tremendous leadership role especially towards community policing in the State.

The activist lawyer  pointed that the State Chairman has succeeded in ensuring that youths are now interested in community policing and expressed appreciation to  members of the Ogun State Police Community Relations Committee for having fate and helping her leadership to grow at all times.
