Kidnapped Peoples Democratic Party Chairman regains freedom

The kidnapped Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Philip Aivoji has regained freedom and reunited with his family while efforts are said to be ongoing to track down the perpetrators of his abduction.

Penpushing reports that Ogun State Command Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, made this known in a statement on Monday explaining that efforts of the command paid off early on Monday morning as the victim was freed by the gang of kidnappers.

The police spokesperson in the statement disclosed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) boss was abducted, alongside some other party officials, by gunmen around Isara on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Penpushing further reports that sources earlier said the victims were on their way back from the party’s stakeholders’ zonal caucus meeting convened by the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan, adding that two persons lost their lives in the incident while nine others were later rescued.

The police and the source could not establish as at the time of filing this report whether the ransom purportedly demanded by the abductors for the release of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was paid or not.
