Kano state house of assembly elects Jibrin Falgore as speaker
The 10th Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday elected Hon Jibrin Falgore of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) as the speaker, as well as Hon Mohammed Butu-Butu as the deputy speaker.
Penpushing reports that the election took place during the inauguration of the new members at the hallowed chamber of the assembly, while the speaker’s election followed a nomination by a member representing Dala constituency, Hon Lawan Hussaini, who nominated Falgore for the speakership.
The lawmaker representing Dala constituency nomination of Falgore was seconded by Hon Musa Kachako, a member representing Takai Constituency, and shortly after the pronouncement of the Speaker and Deputy, they were sworn in by the Clerk of the House, Ali Maje.
Penpushing further reports that other assembly members were sworn by the Director of Legal Service of the Assembly, Nasidi Aliyu shortly after the speaker and his deputy were sworn in, and in his acceptance speech, the new speaker thanked God Almighty for his emergence.
The new speaker in same vein assured the people of the state that his doors would always remain open for positive advice, and equally commended the members for believing in him, just as the assembly also announced that the ruling party, the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), nominated Hon Lawan Husaini, a member representing the Dala constituency, as the majority leader and Hon Garba Shehu, as the deputy majority leader.
Penpushing also reports that Hon Muddasir Zawachiki member representing Kumbotso Constituency, is the new Chief Whip of the house, while the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) nominated Hon Labaran Madari as the minority leader and Ayuba Labaran as Minority Whip.
Meanwhile, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) parades 26 members while the opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC) has 14 members in the assembly
