Kano State Government set to turban new Emir
Barely few hours after the sack of Muhammed Sanusi as the Emir of Kano, the Government is also poised to name and turban a new Emir for the city, as investigation by Penpushing reports that, a son of late Emir who died six years ago Is been considered for the exalted position.
Penpushing reports that, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje who earlier called on residents of the city to remain calm after Sanusi’s dethronement, also added that, ‘new Emir of Kano Emirate will soon be appointed”,
However, as at the time of filing this report Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has concluded plan to install a new Emir in replacement of Sanusi, who was, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), until his installation as Emir of Kano in 2014.
Penpushing further reports that, an official of the Kano State Government who confided in our correspondent said, “I can’t tell you the name now, but I can assure you that new Emir will be announced today (Monday),”
The sack of Sanusi, it is recalled was announced in a statement at a press conference by the Secretary to Kano State Government, Usman Alhaji, explaining that the removal of Sanusi was as a result of subordination and disrespect for constituted authority.
Penpushing further reports that, the Government Scribe said the dethroned Emir persistently refused to attend official meetings and programmes organised by the State Government, without any lawful justification, stressing that the attitude amounted to “total insubordination.”
“It is on record that in so many instances, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi ll has been found breaching part 3 section 13(a-e) of the Kano State Emirate Law 2019,and which if left unchecked will destroy the good and established image of the Kano Emirate’, the statement reads.
“The Kano State Executive Council under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has unanimously approved the immediate removal, dethronement of the emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi l. This removal is made after due consultation with relevant stakeholders and in compliance with part 3 section 13 of the Kano State Emirate Law 2019 and other reasons stated above,” the statement said.
