Kano State Government appoints Bayero as new Emir, banish Sanusi to Nasarawa State

Barely few hours after the sack of Muhammed Sanusi as the Emir of Kano, the Government, announced appointment of Aminu Bayero as the new Emir of Kano, and subsequently banished the deposed Emir to Nasarawa State

Penpushing reports that the Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji made the announcement in company of the four Kano Emirate kingmakers at the Kano Government House in Kano on Monday afternoon

The new Emir, who is the son of late Emir Ado Bayero, was until his appointment the Emir of Bichi, one of the controversial new emirates created by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, in his move to curtail the influence of Sanusi, who had consistently criticised his policies.

Penpushing further reports that, the announcement of the new Emir came as security operatives fired tear gas to disperse a crowd as they escorted the deposed Emir from his palace in Kano on Monday, following a chaos when some members of the royal family sighted the Managing Director of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA),Bappa Dan’agundi, among the policemen who came to evict  Sanusi.

The deposed Emir left the palace around 5 p.m. and was taken to the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, while in the course of moving him out of the palace, there was a light resistance at the palace’s main entrance when some angry youth confronted the armed operatives, who responded by firing tear gas canisters into the crowd.

Penpushing also reports that, sources disclosed that, the former Emir of Kano, who was turbaned in 2014 after the demise of Ado Bayero  was escorted by security operatives to Nasarawa State.
