Gunmen kill worshippers returning from church in Taraba state
Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia have killed three worshippers, and injured several others said to be returning from church service in Jenuwa Nyifiye community in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Penpushing reports that Taraba State Police Command Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Usman who confirmed the incident said the gunmen launched attack on the victims on Sunday, stressing that the attackers were suspected to be members of a Fulani militia.
The police spokesperson added that the gunmen shot at people indiscriminately, explaining that following the attack which also resulted in burning of several houses, soldiers and police personnel were eventually able to repel the attackers.
Penpushing further reports that traditional ruler of the community, Godson Danlami, in reacting to the incident said the attack was very pathetic, as he advised the state government to collaborate with security agencies to bring an end to criminal activities in the community and the council at large.
