Gunmen kill two traditional rulers in Imo state

Two traditional rulers Duruebere of Okwudor autonomous community and Sampson Osunwa of Ihebinowerre autonomous community were on Tuesday shot dead at a meeting venue situated in  Njaba Local Government Area of Imo state

Penpushing reports that the gunmen allegedly stormed the meeting of some traditional rulers and stakeholders at Nnenasa and opened fire, killing the two traditional rulers instantly, a development which caused attendees running helter-skelter for safety.

The source added that, the gunmen on arrival at the venue shot sporadically, hitting the traditional rulers in the process and left the scene almost immediately, stressing that many people at the scene sustained injuries.

Penpushing further reports that, Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mike Abattam confirmed the incident, while as at the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The police spokesman, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said the command was investigating the killings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
