Gunmen bomb police station

Gunmen have attacked Ideato South Police Station in Imo state, throwing Improvised Explosive Devices into the station to cause panic, but the hoodlums were reported to have been repelled by the police command

Penpushing reports that, Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mike Abattam, confirmed the attack in a statement on Thursday, adding that  said the incident occurred in the early hours of the day but no life was lost.

The command spokesman, a chief superintendent of police said the gunmen were shooting sporadically, and later  threw Improvised Explosive Devices into the station, adding that the command’s tactical team and the police operatives overwhelmed the hoodlums with superior fire-power

“The hoodlums were immediately repelled by the command’s tactical team and the police operatives of the division and in the ensuing gun duel, the hoodlums were overwhelmed by the superior fire-power of the police, ”he said.

Penpushing further reports that, Abattan said no life was lost during the attack, but disclosed that the improvised bomb caused minimal damage” to the police facility
