Coronavirus: Ogun State Task force storms churches for head count of worshippers

The Ogun State Task Force on Illegality on Sunday went after suspected churches attempting to flout the Government order of 50 worshippers approved to attend services, ensuring that the order was fully adhered to strictly.

Penpushing reports that, the Task force led by its Commander, Toyin Afolaogun stormed number of churches across the State, and personally conducted a head count of worshippers before the commencement of service.

The Commander at some churches, where he discovered that more than the approved numbers were in attendance, insisted that the worshippers must be reduced to 50, else the service will not be allowed to hold.

Penpushing further reports that, some of the churches,  a check was conducted include; Living Faith(Winners Chapel) located at Agbeloba-Quarry road, Saint Annes Church, Ibara,  Trem Church, Onikolobo, Redeem Christian Church of God(RCCG),Obantoko, Mountain of Fire Ministries, Asero and Celestial Church of Christ(CCC), Ibara, Abeokuta among others.

The monitoring operations led by the Chief Superintendent of Police kicked off as early as 5.30am in ensuring that, none of the churches flouted the government order, while at the end of the operations no arrest was made, as the authorities ensured that, they were not caught in the web

Penpushing also reports that, the Commander while speaking with journalists stated that, from findings, nothing less than 80% compliance were recorded, adding that it is going to be an ongoing exercise until the issue of coronavirus is eradicated.

‘So far, so good, we have recorded about 80% compliance. The church that did not comply, we politely told them to comply accordingly. We politely told them to leave and to re-assemble themselves’, he said

The Commander explained that, the operations were on the order of Governor Dapo Abiodun, and also called on residents and visitors to ensure full compliance of the order in the interest and benefits of all and sundry

‘Anybody who fails to comply with directives of the state government,for sure will face the wrath of the law. We want to appeal to the general public to comply with the directives of the state government. Every  directive should be complied with’, Afolaogun emphasized.
