Gunmen attack bullion van in Ibadan, as traders clash in Gbagi market

A suspected gang of armed robbers on Thursday attacked a bullion van around Idi-Ape area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city, as two policemen and five others were feared dead in the incident which caused pandemonium in the vicinity.
Penpushing reports that the robbers allegedly shot sporadically while carrying out the operation, but it could not be confirmed as at the time of filing this report if the gang successfully made away with any money.
The sources said the bullion van belong to one of the new generation banks located around Testing ground, adding that the situation forced all motorists in the axis to stop as many scampered to safety
Penpushing further reports that the gunmen said to be in their 20’s attacked the bullion van when it stopped before a traffic light, while it was learnt that the bullion van has been taken to the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
The witnesses said in a related development there was a report of violent clash in Gbagi international market where traders were said to have attack each other during an election of new executive.
Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of this report, the Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, was yet to make any official comments or reaction over the ugly development
