Gunmen abduct four Catholic reverend sisters
Gunmen have on Sunday morning abducted four reverend sisters of the Catholic Church along Okigwe- Umulolo Road in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, while they were on the way to attend a thanksgiving service of another reverend sister in the area.
Penpushing reports that Secretary-General of the religious group, Zita Ihedoro made this nown in a statement and gave identities of the victims as include Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu and Benita Agu.
The abducted reverend sisters are members of the Sisters of Jesus, the Saviour Generelate, a religious group of the Catholic Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while the authorities as at the time of filing this report have embarked on intense prayer for their safety
“Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it is with great pain that we bring to your notice the kidnapping of four of our sisters mentioned above. We implore for an intense prayer for their quick and safe release,” Ihedero added.
Penpushing further reports that Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Michael Abattam, was as at the time of filing this report, yet to make any official statement on the incident, while it is on record that communities around Okigwe and Leru located between Imo and Abia States have witnessed increased incidents of abduction lately.
