Group makes case for Yewa indigene next substantive rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic
A Socio- cultural organization, Yewa G6 Ambassadors on Tuesday make case for Yewa indigene to become the next rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic(MAPOLY),Abeokuta, arguing that since the establishment of the institution 42 years ago, the zone has be marginalized in the choice of rector.
Penpushing reports that the Group President Ambassador Biodun Fabuyi and Ambassador Boye Adesina, Head, Media and Publicity stated this in a statement, noting that the only time Yewa indigene attain the position was in acting capacity.
The body buttress its claim with the following record and list of past rectors which indicated thus: Dr Tunji Sonola , (Egba man from Ake), Dr Adebisi Adebayo (Egba man from Igbore) ,Dr Kehinde Jibodu (Sagamu Remo),TP Alhaji Waheed Kadiri (Egba man from Ijaye.),Arch Tokunbo Fowode (Ijebu Ode),Prof Oludele Itiola, (Ẹ̀gbá man from Owu.) ,Dr Ayodeji Tella , (Egba man from Mokola), Dr Samson Adeola Odedina , (Egba man from Ilogbo), and Dr Adeoye David Odedeji, Acting Rector, (Yewa man from Igan Alade)
Penpushing further reports, the group emphasised that, from the above, it is clear that the Egbas have been Rector for six times out of nine, Ijebu once and Remo once, lamenting that the only time a Yewa man is occupying this position is in an acting capacity.
The body alleged that, with the evidence provided, the Egbas want their kinsman to occupy the position by asking and/or pressuring the Governor to relinquish the acting rector who is a Yewa man of the position, instead of confirming him as the substantive rector of the institution.
‘To us in YEWA G6 AMBASSADORS CLUB, this is unacceptable because the institution belongs to Ogun State and not Egba or Abeokuta! We plead with His Excellency, Prince(DR) Dapo Abiodun MFR, not to yield to the pressure coming from the Egba community for the sake of equity, fairness and justice’.
‘We also plead that the Acting Rector, Dr Adeoye David Odedeji be confirmed as substantive Rector, so as to put an end to this unnecessary lobbying.Your Excellency sir, please allow justice, equity and fair play to continue to be your watchword in this case as you are known to have demonstrated in the past’
Penpushing also reports that, the group faulted a media report (not Penpushing) that three people were shortlisted for the interview with an Egba man coming first and a Yewa man coming second.
The body also said it was not aware that government has released the result of the said interview as claimed in the report that an Egba man came first in the interview, stressing that it is questionable and suspicious.
