Governor Oyetola to inaugurate Osun state scrabble association
The newly reconstituted Osun State Scrabble Association is to be inaugurated ahead of the forthcoming National Sports Festival (NSF) which will hold in Edo State from April 4 to 15, 2021.
Penpushing reports that, Chairman of the association, Engr Dideolu Falobi disclosed that, Governor Gboyega Oyetola will conduct the inauguration ceremony, explaining that this will bring new life into the association and the sport, in line with the vision of the Governor.
The Chairman in a statement, said the association on Friday took part in the Emmanuel Egbele Annual Scrabble Tournament held in Lagos as part of preparation for the forthcoming National Sports Festival, adding that the coach/player, Engr. Dokun Esan won the star prize in a field that consisted of a world champion, which include three African Champions, many National Champions among others.
‘The newly reconstituted Osun State Scrabble Association started on a good note yesterday as our team took part in the Emmanuel Egbele Annual Scrabble Tournament held in Lagos as part of our preparation for the forthcoming National Sports Festival which will hold in Edo State from April 4 to 15, 2021’, he said.
‘Our Coach/Player, Engr. Dokun Esan won the star prize in a field that consisted of a world champion, three African Champions, many National Champions and so on.This is a victory for our dear state and an indication of what to expect from the Scrabble Association in particular and Sports in general’,Falobi stated.
Penpushing further reports that, Esan in his victory speech noted that the game of scrabbles is one of the means of improving mental health, providing employment, teaching strategy, improving vocabulary and enhancing social cooperation and bonding among others.
Meanwhile, the champion therefore called for support from all and sundry for the game through sponsorship of tournaments and sponsorship of players’ training and participation in tournaments.
