Governor Fayemi elected to lead African governors’ forum

The Ekiti State Governor Dr  Kayode Fayemi has been elected as President of the Forum of Regions of Africa  (FORAF), in his capacity as Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), at a  conference in Casablanca region, Morocco.

Penpushing reports while Governor Fayemi from  Nigeria, West Africa, clinched the Presidency, Vice Presidents emerged from South Africa, for Southern Africa; Kenya, East Africa; Morocco, Northern Africa; and Cameroon for Central Africa.

The Nigerian elected to lead the African Governors Forum, while speaking on return and visit to President Muhammadu Buhari said the idea of the forum was for sub-nationals to become engines of growth, “and reduce pressure on central governments.”

Penpushing further reports that,  Fayemi, who relinquishes the presidency to the next Nigeria Governors Forum(NGF) President at the expiration of his tenure in office, explained that, Forum of Regions of Africa (FORAF) was a unifying force for States (called Regions, Counties, or Provinces in other countries) to create a globally respected continent.

The forum boss accompanied by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State to the Presidency in Aso rock, Abuja pointed out that Nigeria’s election was a testimony to the huge respect President Buhari enjoys in Africa.

Penpushing also reports that, President Muhammadu Buhari in response to the election boasted that inspite of the security challenges the country has, it is good to see that other countries still believe in Nigeria potentialities.

The President congratulated other twenty-two participating countries, at the conference, where global issues were discussed,   for doing justice to Nigeria, and thanked them, noting that it was a good show of brotherhood and solidarity.
