Pressure Group, Progressives Vanguard wants Ambassador Sarafa Isola to contest Governorship race in 2027
A pressure group, known as Progressives Vanguard on Tuesday encouraged former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Isola to show interest for the governorship race in Ogun State in 2027.
Penpushing reports that the group with membership across the twenty local government areas of the state made the call at a strategic meeting held at the private residence of chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Dr) Joju Fadairo located within Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta.
The group led by Hon. Ayobami Makinde declared that the decision to encourage Isola was because of his pedigree, emphasized that he is a known season politician and administrator with laudable and track records.
Penpushing further reports that Makinde emphasized that the body was convinced about the competence of Isola, who was a former Secretary to Ogun State Government and Minister, adding that his exposure within and outside the country is a testament of his leadership qualities
The group disclosed that membership across the state have endorsed Isola as best aspirant among others, expressing optimism that he would secure the party ticket and win at the poll come 2027
“We’re not just supporting a candidate; we’re standing with a vision and track record. Sarafa Tunji Isola has the experience, integrity, and leadership the state needs, and we are convince that as Governor he will take the state to greater height’, Makinde stated
Penpushing also reports that he called on members of the group to be united ahead of the primaries and at subsequent general election, stressing that Ogun State needs tested and trusted hands like Isola
The Acting Secretary of the group Comrade Tunde Ajayi in his contributions explained that the meeting was conveyed to call on the former Nigerian Ambassador to United Kingdom to lead the state in the next political dispensation
“We’ve been on this journey since 2023, and it’s beyond politics for us. It’s about a future we believe in. We’re determined to walk this path with Hon. Sarafa until he emerges’, the scribe stated
Penpushing reports that in similar vein, Olufemi Olomu a notable leader of the group stated that Ambassador Isola is a cerebral politician, and most qualified to lead Ogun State come 2027
“Sarafa is not just qualified—he’s overqualified. From local government chairman to Secretary to the State Government, a federal minister, and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the UK, he has seen it all. He understands governance inside out’, Olomu added
Penpushing further reports that Isola in response thanked members of the group for the genuine interest in him, and support, while he promises them, he won’t betray them and their confidence.
The known bonafide Ogun State indigene from Abeokuta North Local government who was at a time the council chairman, said he was deeply humbled by the commitment of the group, adding that he was of the conviction he would continue to contribute positively towards developmental growth of the state
