Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu joins online publishers to celebrate 7th annual conference

The Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu on Wednesday joined members of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) to celebrate with them on the 7th conference of the body held in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Penpushing reports that the police boss was ushered into the venue of the conference at Abuja Continental Hotels, Abuja, by Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, founder of Penpushing Media, into the waiting hands of members of the Guild.

The introduction of Alamutu attracted a thunderous applaud from the conference participating members of Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), which membership cut across all states, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Penpushing further reports that the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) appreciated the appearance of the police boss at the conference, and encouraged him not to relent on his, and command efforts towards fight against crimes and criminals.

The Commissioner of Police in his brief remarks at the conference affirmed the positive role of Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), in sanitizing the media industry for robust and ethical conscious journalism.

Penpushing also reports that Alamutu who went memory lane on his relationship with journalists, called for more synergy between the media and the police, adding that the two bodies should always see themselves as partners in progress.

The police chieftain, however, tasked the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) on need to encouraged younger ones in the noble profession, to emulate them (Guild) having turned the fortune of journalism for better.

Penpushing reports that Alamutu appealed to the online publishers to look inwards and jointly addressed the menace of fake news, which is noted to be rampant, particularly among fake and roadside journalists

The Commissioner added that his command is prepared to work together with Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) for the betterment of the country, and called on them to join hands in jointly fighting crimes and criminals

Penpushing further reports that he recalled that when he assumed duty as police boss in the state, he observed that prevailing crimes include land grabbing and cultism, adding that as a result of proactiveness, the command has been able to reasonably put check into these crimes among others
