
Cooperative Society engages members in leadership training

The Olumo NUT Cooperative Investment and Credit Society (CICS) on Wednesday held a leadership training for members which include newly elected executives of the society, with the theme, “Membership Development and Human Relations in Cooperative’.
Penpushing reports that the stakeholders training was held at the conference room of corporate headquarters of Penpushing Media located on Leme axis of Moshood Abiola way, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
The outgone President of the society, Sina Adefolahan in his paper presentation at the one-day training charged stakeholders, particularly the new leadership to embrace humility and strengthen their communication skills among other qualities.
Penpushing further reports that Adefolahan in same vein, tasked them on the importance of leadership development in building a stronger and more effective cooperative, and that leader needs to be upright.
The immediate past President of the cooperative society emphasized that leadership must improve in decision-making abilities by embracing strategic thinking and becoming more proactive in guiding their teams.
Penpushing also reports that Adefolahan, a retired Secondary School Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Community Education Advancement of Peace and Development Initiative (CEAPDI) pointed out that leaders must be able to communicate effectively, not just with fellow officers
The former President, emphasized that conflict is an inherent aspect of collaborative work, and highlighted two key points which include differences in opinions and that goals can lead to conflicts in cooperative settings.
Penpushing reports that he pointed out that conflict is inevitable and it is a natural part of collaboration, stressing that even when working towards a common goal, conflicts can arise, and that this should be an acknowledged reality.
The society boss encouraged the development of proactive strategies for managing and resolving conflicts constructively, explaining that this approach can ultimately strengthen relationships and help achieve organizational goals.
Penpushing further reports that the participants at the well-attended training during interview with journalists after the exercise expressed delight on the conference, which they affirmed had further brighten their knowledge in administrative matters
The excited and fulfilled stakeholders equally commended the immediate past leadership for the initiative to organize the training, adding that it has added values to their understanding of how cooperative societies are been administered.
