Ogun state police commissioner, Edward Ajogun bows out of service on Nigeria’s independence day

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun will on Friday, October 1, 2021 graciously bow out of the service of Nigeria Police Force, after a resounding and meritorious service to the country.

Penpushing reports that, Ajogun is exiting from service having attained the 60 year old retirement status in the civil service, and interestingly, it is a day Nigeria, clocked 61 years, a clear fact that, Nigeria is older than him for one year.

The two day  programme to honour Ajogun, a police boss whose period recorded peace in the state and environs, with drastic reduction in crimes and activities of criminals, include a sendforth party organized for him by well wishers on October 1, at Police Officers Mess At Government Reservation Area, Ibara, Abeokuta.

Penpushing further reports that, in appreciating the retired commissioner, the Police Community Relations Committee (PRCR) , Ogun State Chapter led by Venerable Samson Popoola has also concluded arrangements to honour the seasoned crime buster  on Saturday, October 2,2021 at Valleyview Government House, Abeokuta

The Police Community Relations Committee (PRCR), in appreciation of the good work of Ajogun, a known  firm officer,  jokes cracker, with no dull moment whenever  in the midst of people and his officers, have procured uniformed Ankara fabrics for all members to add glamour to the ceremony

Penpushing, however, bring our readers the profile of the Edo State born police chieftain, and a product of the famous University of Ibadan, who is popular among his colleagues within and outside the state for the exemplary performances.

BIOGRAPH:

Edward Awolowo Ajogun is an indigene of Akoko Edo in Edo state. An alumnus of the Premier University of  Ibadan where he studied political science and graduated with second class honour upper division.

Penpushing also reports that, he joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1988 and he has been working across the length and breadth of Nigeria in various capacity, while his first posting was 2i/c Police Public Relations Officer of the old Bendel State, and when Delta state was created, Ajogun was posted as the substantive Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command.

The profile has it that, he has also served as a detective at X Squad unit of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Alagbon, after which he was posted as Chairman Taskforce on Postal and Telecommunication, and was later posted to Lagos State Police Command where he served as Divisional Police OfficerD in Elere Division and Ebute Ero respectively.

The Commissioner has also served as the Personal Assistant to a former Inspector General of Police Mr. Tafa Balogun,and  he was also the Principal Staff Officer to another former Inspector General of Police Mr. Solomon Arase, and when he(Ajogun) was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, he served as Area Commander Bauchi, Akure and Area F Ikeja at various time.

Penpushing reports that, in 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and he served with that rank as D.C operations in River state,  Abia State, Ondo State and Ogun State, and  also served as DC State CID in Akwa-Ibom and Ekiti states respectively.

He got promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in 2019 and he was posted to Police Medical Services as CP Admin in Falomo Lagos state, and from  there, he was deployed to Ogun State Police Command as the number one police officer in the state.

The Commissioner, has attended professional courses within and outside Nigeria, notable amongst them are Public Relations Development Course, Intermediate Command Course, Leadership and Tactical Command course which he attended at  prestigious Police Staff College Jos Plateau State.

Penpushing further reports that, he also attended the United Nations Civilian Police Officers Seminar in New Delhi, India and Arm Trafficking Course in Garbonne Botswana. The retired Commissioner is holder  of Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from University of Ibadan, Masters in Public Administration from Lagos State University and a Law Degree from National Open University.
