Fire guts Alaba International Market in Lagos

The popular Alaba International Market located  in the Ojo area of Lagos have been gutted by fire on Friday, while as at the time of filing this report the cause of the fire and the number of casualties could not be ascertained.

Penpushing reports that Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Margaret Adeseye, said that fire crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle are being turned back by angry mobs from attending to the outbreak.

The Director as at the time of this report, however,said officials of the fire service were still on standby, explaining that the  agency is consequently collaborating with security agents to address  the worrisome development.

Penpushing further reports that Alaba International Market is regarded as the largest electronics market in West Africa, with thousands of electronic products including televisions radios and computers being imported into the market daily from where they are sold or distributed to other Nigerian markets.
