Fallout of son’s petition: Crimes commission arrests Kano state governor’s wife
The wife of Kano State Governor, Hafsat Ganduje, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a bribery and land fraud case reported by her son,
Penpushing reports that, the woman had earlier been invited by the commission on September13, but did not honour the invitation, as source said, thereafter she travelled to London at the time to attend the graduation ceremony of her son.
The commission, however, threatened to arrest her following her failure to honour the invitation, hence the arrest was effected, while source revealed that, as at early Monday, she was still at the agency headquarters inAbuja
Penpushing further reports that, source said Ganduje ran into trouble water following allegations relating to land fraud in a petition by her own son, Abdualzeez Ganduje, who dragged his mum, to the commission.
The petition, a source said stated that, the son reported that he was approached by a property developer to help facilitate the acquisition of some plots of land in Kano with some hundreds of thousands of US dollars and at least N35 million as “facilitation commission
Penpushing also reports that, the son was quoted to have said he paid the sum in dollars to his mother, just as source said three months later, (the property developer) discovered that the plots of land he wanted and had paid the first family for had been allocated to other buyers and he then requested to be refunded,
The Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, had previously been involved in a corruption-related scandal, but embarked on frantic efforts to distance himself from the allegation, as a way to prove to the public that he is not corrupt
