Gunmen kill groom-to-be few days to wedding

A groom-to-be, Issac Nnaemeka Chukwu, has been shot dead in Abakaliki town of Ebonti state in the presence of his would be bride, Favour Chioma  by suspected gunmen a week to their wedding

Penpushing reports that the wedding invitation showed that, the traditional wedding’ was to take place on April 21 in Ikwo local government, while the white wedding was scheduled for April 23 in Abakaliki.

The deceased popularly called Ochudo, who hailed from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state, and running business was said to be closing one of his shops, and preparing to enter his car when he was shot dead

Penpushing further reports that, a source said the bereaved fiancée was quoted saying that Chukwu was shot at about 9pm, after closing one of his shops as he made to enter his car to return home.

The source added that some boys accosted them, first shot into the air, then ordered the man to lie down and then shot him three times; (then they) collected the wife’s phone and left,” the source said.

“He has a shop at International Market where he deals on provision goods. He owns another joint at Chukwuma Ofeke street Ameke Aba, The incident happened at about 9 p.m. when they had closed shop and were about to enter their vehicle. Some boys accosted them, first shot into the air, then ordered the guy to lie down and then shot him three times; (then they) collected the wife’s phone and left,” the source said.

Penpushing also reports that, when contacted Ebonyi State Police Command Public Relations Officer contacted, Loveth Odah, said she was not aware of the incident, but promised to get back after contacting the officer in charge of the area but has yet to do so at press time.
