FAKE PROPHET ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY DEFRAUDING WOMAN OF N165, 000
The police authorities confirmed this on Sunday, adding that luck ran out on the gang when they came in contact with the lady who boarded a taxi belonging to the team at Ojota enroute Ojodu Berger, and on getting to Oregun, the driver picked another passenger and they began their tricks on the lady.
The victim said ,“I ended up in their office in Iju, where they collected all the money on me including the one in my account. They made me swear to an oath never to inform anyone. Thereafter, Osuji requested that I go get another N60,000 to complete the ritual”
Penpushing further reports that, the victim told the police that she borrowed the N60,000 to give to Osuji but on her way to hand it over to him she regained her consciousness, and thereafter ran into a patrol team of Rapid Response Squad Officers, a development which led to the arrest of the suspect.
The police said, after the arrest the suspect confessed that his role in the gang was to narrate false prophesy to victims after the person must have been lured into their offices at 8, Afolabi Street, Iju Shaga and 7, Salami Street, Oko Oba, and Agege.
Penpushing also reports that, the police said the suspect who is the ring leader of the syndicate disclosed that his gang used fake dollars to entrap their victims, explaining that, while the other three members of the team identified as Frank, Stella and Emeka drive out daily to lure suspects, who they would have tricked into their dollar making scam, he(Osuji) would be invited as a Pastor to pray for the victim.
The police added that, the ring leader of the fraudsters, will thereafter embarked on fake prayers and prophesy for the victimsm, would start requesting for money for anointing oil, chemicals for the washing of the money, and other charges.
Penpushing further reports that, Osuji, in his confessional statement said frustration led him into the crime, adding that he joined the gang three years ago. “What I collected from the victim is N120, 000. I know that my colleagues withdrew N45, 000 from her ATM. I am ready to pay all the money back,” he begged.
