FAILED RECALL OF MELAYE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY POPULARITY, SAYS GOVERNOR BELLO

The 44 year old Senator while reacting from his hospital bed thanked his constituents for the unwavering trust they reposed in him, saying evil will never triumph over good in an apparent swipe at his political opponents.

Penpushing further report that, Melaye was elected into the House of Representatives in April 2007 under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP),but later abandoned the party and was elected as Senator in 2015 under the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC)

He supported Bello to have emerged as the Kogi State Governor in 2015, but months later things fell apart between the duo other over the state’s staff verification exercise. The exercise was widely deemed unpopular because it left thousands of workers unpaid for several months.

But the 42 year old Governor said the initiative was necessary to winnow out ghost workers and other employment racketeers who constitute a major drain on the state’s already insufficient resources, while Melaye recognised the essence of the policy, but strongly opposed the tactics deployed by the Bello administration.

Penpushing recalled that, the matter soon became a serious point of political tension between the two, and Melaye believes it is also the basis for his ongoing criminal investigations by the police. He has been accused by the police of arming criminal elements to terrorise Kogi residents, as well as being a person of interest in murder, armed robbery and other criminal matters.
