Exclusive: Shuaib Salisu senatorial ticket on shaky note

The Senatorial ticket of former Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Alhaji ShuaIb Salisu is said to be on a shaky note, following investigation which revealed that, a power tussle to replace his name has commenced.

Penpushing reports that, the power play has been traced to crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogun State Chapter, in view of adamant posture of a faction allegedly led by a former Governor of the State.

The former Chief of Staff had during the party senatorial primary held at Centenary Hall, Ake Abeokuta, won at the poll, and secured a ticket to contest the Ogun Central Senatorial District in the forthcoming election under the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).

Penpushing further reports that investigation revealed that, the development took a new dimension, about few days ago, as it was gathered that, a force within the party, insisted that, Salisu name should be substituted for peace to reign in the party.

The political maneuver and power game, has since started over who will take the slot, as some chieftains of the party held a meeting where Salisu and the interested party leader for the ticket ,was also in attendance

Penpushing also reports that, as at the end of the inconclusive meeting the temporary submission was said not to be in favour of the former Chief of Staff, who was reported to have been downcasted, and making frantic move to retain the ticket as at the time of filing this report

The findings equally revealed that following the inconclusive meeting, another round of meeting has been rescheduled to hold in Abeokuta, in the coming week by party leaders, to find lasting solution to the development and ensure permanent peace return to the party.

Penpushing reports that, the Section. 84 of the Electoral Act 2022 of the   Independent Electoral National Commission (INEC) emphasized that only the names of candidates that emerged from democratic primaries shall be submitted to the Commission.
