EMIR ON DANGER LIST AS GUNMEN ATTACK CONVOY, KILLING 30 COMMUTTERS, KIDNAPPING 100
The police in a statement on Wednesday night said the men were dressed in military fatigues when they struck on the axis, which has been amongst the most notorious haven for kidnap-for-ransom criminals in recent years.
Penpushing further reports that, Kaduna State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Sabo Abubakar claimed that only six people were killed in the attack with five sustained injuries, but admitted many people were kidnapped but did not give details.
However, contrary to the police spokesman’s claim, top securities sources declared that the ugly incident claimed lives of at least thirty persons, and reaction to the attack, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, who comes from Yobe where Potiskum is one of the largest settlements, condemned the attack in strong terms while condoling with victims.
Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command said a manhunt for the suspects and an investigation into the attack had begun on Wednesday.
