ELECTORAL COMMISSION APPROVES CONTINUATION OF ELECTION CAMPAIGNS

The parties argued that campaigns should end a day before the elections, based on the electoral law, pointing out that, since the elections now hold on February 23, the campaigns should continue to midnight on Thursday

It is recalled that, the elections were stopped on Saturday at about 2.30am, few hours to commencement and subsequently shifted to February 23  and March 9,respectively. The postponement, according to the commission’s boss became necessary of problems with distribution of materials across the country.

Penpushing further reports that the electoral body said it consulted with political parties and has “approved that campaigns by parties and candidates can resume forthwith to end by midnight of Thursday, 21st February 2019.”
