Don’t panic, Nigerian Army assure residents as ‘Exercise Still Water’ begins in Oyo State

The Nigerian Army on Monday flagged off Still Water’ operations in Oyo State., with a call on residents not to entertain any fear or  panic, explaining that the exercise was conceived to tackle current security challenges across the country.

Penpushing reports that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan, Major General Gold Chibuizi, appealed to members of the public to cooperate and shared necessary information with the the security for the success of the operation.

The Army boss said that the initiative was borne out of the vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) towards putting an end to crimes and criminality in Nigeria, adding that, the exercise  will be on real crime intelligent, profiling security threat

“Other exercises concurrently launched with Still Water are Operation ‘Golden Dawn” and ‘Exercise Enduring Peace’ in the Southeast and Southsouth part of Nigeria.. In our area of responsibility, still water will be conducted in the six states of Edo, Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, Osun and Oyo, other sisters security agencies have  been invited to played their statutory roles during the exercise.”

“The exercise will be on real crime intelligent, profiling security threat and will metamophose into real operations to checkmate criminality, it will strengthen civil/military relations such as medical outreach programs, occasional support and minor renovation among others.”

Penpushing further reports that, Governor Seyi Makinde in his remarks lauded the strategy of the Chief of Army Staff, pointing out that the exercise will further strengthen military/civilian relationship towards tackling security.

The Governor who was represented by his  Chief of Staff   Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi  lamented that military has been perceived  not to have good relationship with the civilian because most of the names and code of operation by military do not connote relationship with civilian.

Penpushing also reports he, however commended the General Officer Commanding( GOC) for the synergy between the Army and other sister security agencies in the state, noting that one of the problems facing the country is sharing of information between security agencies.
