Court Abracadabra: Secondus bounces back as People Democratic Party National Chairman

The embattled National Chairman of the troubled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has reclaimed leadership position of the party four days after a Rivers State High Court sacked him from office,

Penpushing reports that, following Secondus sack by the court, he was replaced by Deputy National Chairman, of the party, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi as the Acting National Chairman, after two days of intra-party spat over claim to the leadership

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan made emergence of Akinwonmi known on Thursday, after the National Working Committee (NWC) closed door meeting held in in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Penpushing further reports that, aggrieved Secondus, however, approached a Kebbi State High Court, to challenge his sack by the Rivers State High Court which issued an order restraining him from parading himself as National Chairman

The Kebbi State High Court in Birnin-Kebbi on Thursday restored Uche Secondus as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and this came barely three days after the River State High Court issued an ex parte order suspending him from office on Monday.

Three applicants – Yahaya Usman, Abubakar Muhammad, and Bashar Suleman – filed an ex parte application dated August 25, 2021 at the Kebbi State High Court for an order for stay of execution of the suspension order issued by the Rivers State High Court.

Penpushing reports that , the judge, Justice  Nusirat Umar, in his ruling granted leave to Secodus to return to office as the national chairman of the party “pending the hearing and determination of the applicant’s motion on notice.”

The re-instated National Chairman has however, resumed office on Friday barely 24 hours after he handed over to his deputy, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, who himself also handed over to him(Secondus) thereafter.

Penpushing also reports that, a statement by the media aide, Ike Abonyi, said  Secondus received a handover note from Akinwonmi on Friday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja,the Federal Capital Territory(FCT)

‘Prince Secondus who was obeying the purported experte order of a Degema High Court in Rivers State had stayed away but got reinstated after a Kebbi High Court presided over by Justice Nasirat Umar directed him to resume.

‘Sequel to that Prince Secondus who had stayed away even though not served resumed and the Deputy National Chairman South, Elder Yemi Akinwomi who held forth in his absence upon receipt of the new Court order handed over to him’.

‘At the brief handover, Prince Secondus pledged to continue providing astute leadership to the party.Elder Akinwonmi also announced his receipt of the court order which he presented to the caucus meeting’.
