Coronavirus: We are tired of sitting at home, re-open schools, students association tells Nigerian government

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) embarked on a peaceful protest to call on the Nigerian government across the country to opened all tertiary institutions in the interest of the students.
Penpushing reports that the leadership of the association at the protest held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital stated that now that markets, worship centers and other places earlier lockdown following the outbreak of coronavirus have been reopened, tertiary institutions should not also be in exemption.
The protesters with placards of various inscriptions and led by the National President of the body, Comrade Olalere Adetunji urged the federal government to reopen tertiary institutions with no further delay.
Penpushing further reports that, the students body condemned the attitude of the Federal Ministry of Education to the plights of Nigerian students and thereby issued a 14 days ultimatum to government to take the right steps.
The President of the Student Union Government, (SUG) Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele, Ilesanmi Moses, pointed out that the continuous closure of tertiary institutions has turned most students to internet fraudsters.
The protesters appealed to stakeholders to prevail on the federal government on the need to reopen tertiary institutions in the country, adding,’ “we cannot continue to keep mute in the face of bad policy, most especially that has to do with the education Sector.
“COVID 19 has come to stay with us, whether we agree or not, there is cure or there is going to be cure to it like malaria, all we need from the Federal Government is to stop partaking in the global politics, and cvome out with a specific date for schools re opening, FG has given a guidelines on schools re opening and everybody is ready to adhere strictly with the guidelines, we have seen some Polytechnic that has displayed their readiness.
“Federal Ministry of Education should wake up to the task on Provision of preventive measures materials across the Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria. If ASUP is not ready to go back to class, their salary should be stop henceforth, no work no pay’
‘But if the Federal Government refused to give a specific date between now and next 14 days, the entire polytechnic students across the country will not hesitate to mobilize in millions across the streets in Nigeria, we are ready to stop the economy activities of the country.
“NAPS Leadership stage a peaceful demonstration today 1st August in Ibadan as a Pilot Scheme for the Mass Action against Perpetual Closure of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria. Federal Government should stop the global politics, and stop wasting our destiny.
