Coronavirus: Ogun State confirms fresh case of 62-year patient

Ogun State government on Tuesday confirmed fresh case of coronavirus victim, and this discovery came after the Italian, who first brought the virus to Ewekoro town, in Ewekoro Local Government area of the State

Penpushing reports that, the Commissioner of Health, Dr  Tomi Coker disclosed this at a press explaining  that the patient is a 62-years old man, who returned from United Kingdom and tested positive  in Sagamu area of the state.

“Today, we have a newly confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ogun state. Our priority at the moment is to provide care for the gentleman. He’s been transferred to our Isolation Centre which is located at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu.”

The Commissioner said the returnee whose name is withheld, arrived into the country  last week Tuesday (17th of March) and had been on self-isolation before being tested positive, adding that so far a total number of 32 contacts had been identified and tracked for COVID-19 in the State, adding that the patient had history of dry cough before he tested positive.

Penpushing further reports that, Coker  said  32 contacts with the victim, had also been identified and under close medical observation and security supervision,adding  that the state government had mass production of hand sanitizers which would be distributed to over five million citizens and residents of the state free of charge.

“But, I cannot tell you at this point in time when that one (free hand sanitizers) would come up, but I must say the most effective way of preventing COVID-19 is still hand washing with soap and water for 40 to 60 seconds. That’s more effective even than the sanitizers. So, people should wash their hands frequently”, she added.
