
Moshood Abiola Polytectnic to confer honorary award on Osoba, as institution produces 51,000 graduates
The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta has concluded arrangement to confer honorary award on former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba for his exceptional contributions to education, industry, and national development.
Penpushing reports that the Rector of the institution Dr. Babatunde Jolaosho made this known on Thursday at a press conference ahead of convocation ceremony, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
The Rector explained that the institution at the ceremony will produce over 51,000 students across nine academic sessions, spanning from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024, which is 15th combined convocation ceremony
Penpushing further reports that Jolaoso said the event will feature the conferment of National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) on graduands from both full-time and part-time programmes.
“With over 51,000 graduands, this convocation is a testament to the resilience of MAPOLY, and we are determined to chart a new course of growth and excellence. ‘This will be the first convocation since the 2014/2015 session, and it reflects a renewed spirit of progress and institutional rebirth at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY)’, Jolaoso emphasized
Penpushing also reports that he described the ceremony as a symbolic new beginning for the polytechnic, which was established in 1979, adding that since he assumed office about six months ago, his administration has embarked on rebranding and repositioning of the institution through improved academic calendars, infrastructural renewal, and renewed staff-student confidence.
The rector disclosed that convocation lecture, titled “Diaspora Perspective and the Influence of STEM in the Globalized World of Today”, will be delivered by Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa,
Penpushing reports that Jolaoso said the lecture which will take place same day at Otunba Gbenga Daniel Hall within the institution campus aligns with the polytechnic’s renewed focus on innovation and global relevance.
The rector in same vein assured that his administration will remain committed to restoring the polytechnic lost glory and repositioning it as a centre of academic excellence, just as he highlighted ongoing reforms.
Penpushing further reports that he said these include infrastructure upgrade, engagement with alumni and industries, academic calendar stabilization, and rebranding of the institution’s image in line with global best practices.
The rector expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his support, not leaving out the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, and the Polytechnic’s Governing Council.
Penpushing also report that he identified other personalities to be conferred with Fellowship Award as High Chief Tosin Owolabi Fadare; and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goal and Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire former Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
The rector added that award of excellence will be bestowed on Chairman of Adron Homes and Properties Limited, Aware Adetola Emmanuel-King and National President of ACCOMORAN, Prince Shamsudeen Apelogun .
