The Oro adherents reportedly imposed curfew in the community on Saturday, which was defied by the Muslims in the area who went out to observe their prayers, a development which the oro adherents took as opportunity to deal with the ‘erring’ residents, majority who were Muslims and beat them mercilessly.

Penpushing further reports that, the oro adherents were quoted to have argued that, they took the action for alleged non-compliance to the curfew order by the Muslim worshippers during the ritual which was held in day-break.

The State High Court sitting in Ipokia, it is recalled   had given a judgement   that the Oro adherents must desist from holding their festival in day-break in any part of the area.

“We were coming back from a programme held at our mosque when the Oro adherents attacked us. They beat us that we did not obey the curfew order .We stood our ground and we ensure we grabbed three of them who we later handed over to the police’, he said.

He further added, “the intimidation is too much, they refused to allow us practise our religion despite the agreement that the Oro ritual will not be performed in day-break, they did not obey that ”.

Meanwhile, the Police Command spokesman said the suspects would be charged to court for breach of peace and other criminal acts.
