Court issues bench warrant against 28- year old fashion designer

A magistrate Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital has issued a bench warrant against a 28 year old fashion designer, Adeola Akindeinde, who is facing a three count charge which include threat to murder

Penpushing reports that, prosecutor in the on going  case with reference  number MA/346C/2021, Inspector Famuyiwa , had applied for bench warrant against Akindeinde who is the defendant in the case, having failed to appear in court when she knew the case was coming up.

The case between Ogun State Commissioner of Police and Adeola Akindeinde as defendant , has it that Akindeinde on June 11, 2021 at Quarry road, Abeokuta, conspired with another person to commit felony,threats to murder, an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code vol 1 laws  of Ogun state.

Penpushing further reports that, the defendant had earlier pleaded not guilty on all charges, while her counsel  apllied for her bail in liberal terms, arguing that, the defendant is presumed to be innocent at this stage, and prayed the court to exercise  its disrection  in favour of the defendant.

The Senior Magistrate, O.O Olusanya granted the bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in the like sum, stressing that one of the sureties shall be licenced bondmen with Ogun State, while the other surety shall be the relative of the defendant

Penpushing  also reports that, the court added that, the sureties shall  show evidence of tax payment recieipt for this year, and shall also show evidence of payment of utilities bills like PHCN for the past three months.

The Magistrate declared that sureties and the defendant shall submit  2 colour passport photographs each, adding that the principal registrar  of the court is to verify  home addresses of the sureties and defendant

Penpushing reports that, Principal Witness 1, Oluwakemi Abayomi, resident of Plot 6, Afobaje street in Abeokuta had dragged the defendant to court alleging her of sending death threat message to her through a telephone number 07037971447

The case was scheduled for further hearing  on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 but the defendant was absent, hence, the prosecutor  told the court that, there was no legal representation for the defendant, therefore applied for bench warrant against the defendant.

Penpushing further reports that, Magistrate Olusanya in his ruling ordered a bench waarant against the defendant, emphasising that she(defendant) should be locked up in custody till next adjournment date fixed for  December 17, 2021
