Bandits sack community in Zamfara state

Bandits have sacked residents of Yan Buki village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State, and killed about seven persons, as well as kidnapping number of them during the attack on the community

Penpushing reports that, a source in the community said the bandits launched attack on Thursday, having arrived the community at noon, and started shooting sporadically, as well as embarked on house to house search.

“They came around 12 p.m. and started shooting sporadically. When they came into the village, some of them continued shooting while others started a house to house search. They brought out about 50 women and children who were hiding in their houses and took them into the bush’, the source said.

Penpushing further reports that, the source added that the bandits also set ablaze shops and foodstuff in traditional silos, stressing that after the bandits left seven corpses which include his brother were counted.

“After they left, we counted seven corpses including my own brother, Abdullahi. He was shot in my presence. They dragged him out of his house and shot him in the back and in the neck,” the source added.

Penpushing also reports that, as at the time of filing this report, Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu, was yet to make any official statement on the ugly development
