Bandits kidnap father of Zamfara state speaker
The father of the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasir Magarya, and five others were on Wednesday evening kidnapped by bandits in Magarya in Zurmi local government area of the state
Penpushing reports that, sources said Magarya was abducted alongside his wife when the bandits stormed Magarya and moved directly to the speaker’s house, adding that they (kidnappers) came at about 4pm and started shooting to scare people.
“They came some minutes after 4 p.m. when most Muslim faithful were praying the early evening prayer. They started shooting sporadically as they moved towards the house to pick their target”, the source said
Penpushing further reports that, as at the time of filing this report, the Speaker was yet to make any official statement, while the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the incident but declined to give further details.
Meanwhile, the police spokesman added that the Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Rabiu, had deployed officers of the police tactical squad to rescue the abducted persons, as at the time of filing this report.
