BABANGIDA MEDIA AIDE, AFEGBUA DENIES POLICE INVITATION OVER PRESS STATEMENT

Penpushing recalled that the spokesman had on Sunday issued a statement on behalf of his boss(Babangida), advising President Muhammed Buhari not to recontest in 2019,but less than few hours another statement reportedly emerged from Babangida, countering the one he had earlier signed and distributed to the media,

The counter-statement, released by PRNigeria, a pro-government public relations firm, portrayed Babangida as rebuking his spokesperson for putting out words that did not reflect his position.

Afegbua in reaction during interview with Channels Television Sunday night insisted that Babangida authorised him to release the original statement, which Babangida himself validated in his exchange with THISDAY.

However, as at the time of filing this report, the police have kept mum about the arrest reports, which had been circulating since Sunday evening, but a source from the police Federal Capital Territory was quoted saying they had no immediate details about any moves by the police to arrest Afegbua.
