Awujale burial holds Monday evening
The remains of Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona will be committed to mother earth on Monday July 14, 2025 in Ijebu Ode town of Ogun State.
Penpushing reports that the burial rites announcement was made known in a statement issued by Secretary to the Ogun State Government Tokunbo Talabi made available to journalists, explaining that the late first class traditional ruler will be buried at Ogbagba court, Igbeba in the ancient town
“Ogun State Government has announced the burial rites for the late Awujale of Ijebu land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona. The burial will take place today, (14/07/2025) at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-ode, Ogun State, at exactly 4 pm”, the statementreads.
Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that the revered monarch joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91, few hours after his long time friend Muhammadu Buhari, former President died at United Kingdom hospital
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, in the statement urged residents of the state to remember the families of the revered monarch in their prayers.
