Autopsy on Nigerian musician, Mohbad completed, says police

The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday night confirmed that autopsy conducted on the corpse of the late Nigerian musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly called Mohbad, has been completed with result being awaited.

Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin attested to this, while it is recalled that earlier in the day the remains of Mohbad were earlier exhumed following controversy surrounding his death and hurry manner in burying him, while record has it that the nurse who injected him had been arrested
The police spokesman, however, as at the time of filing this report was silence on whether there was any other arrest aside from the nurse in custody, while it is recalled that the 27-year-old singer died last week Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday in Ikorodu, and his death has attracted concerns, as some alleged the owner of Marlian Records and singer, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley as likely principal suspect on the controversial death
Penpushing further reports it is recalled that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, however, ordered a swift and comprehensive investigation into the tragic passing of Mohbad, to be conducted by the Lagos State Police Command.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi made this known in a statement, explaining that the direct and urgent directive was issued during a brief and crucial discussion at the Police Airwing Hangar, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday.

Penpushing also reports that the statement added that Egbetokun tasked the Commissioner of Police to quickly and effectively unravel the truth behind the tragedy as there have been understandable concerns and speculations surrounding the circumstances of his untimely demise.

The police boss equally urged any family members or close associates of the deceased possessing valuable information pertaining to this case to come forward and cooperate with the Lagos State Police Command to ensure that justice is served and the circumstances surrounding his (Mohbad) demise are thoroughly examined.

Penpushing reports that Lagos State Police Command in swift response initiated the commencement of full-scale criminal investigation into the case, having constituted a Special Investigation Team within the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to coordinate the investigation.

The Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement said the Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa has a raised a team which comprises seasoned homicide detectives, and tasked them to aggregate all allegations, suspicions and insinuations from various sources on the death of the singer.

Penpushing further reports that the statement added that the team is to undertake a professional, diligent and timely investigation with a view to establishing facts, clearing all doubts and ensuring that justice is manifestly served through a meticulous process that will deploy all requisite protocols (which may include exhumation), as well as technical and scientific tools that are vital to the detailed investigation of homicide allegations of this nature.

‘Consequent upon the growing public concerns and the preliminary police review of the general circumstances surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has directed the commencement of full-scale criminal investigation into the case’, the statement reads

Penpushing also reports that Hundeyin said in aid of this initiative, the Lagos State Government has pledged its total support to the Special Investigation Team in all ways required to guarantee a diligent investigative exercise.

The statement stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave this assurance while consulting with the Commissioner of Police earlier on how best to ensure that the case is expeditiously investigated and justice delivered promptly.

Penpushing reports that the command made an appeal  to the deceased’s family, friends, business associates or anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation to share same with the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department on 08036885727 and to optimally support the Police in the drive for a conclusive investigation of the case.

The statement made available to journalists added that Lagos State Police Command assured that progress of the investigation will, as much as legally and professionally permissible, and wil be shared with the general public accordingly.
