ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE OF AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY ALLEGES PARTY LEADERSHIP OF PLOT TO WITHDRAW HIS TICKET
Penpushing further reports that, Ajikiolu explained that the Party Secretary had given him the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to fill, only for some party leaders in Abeokuta South to retrieve same from him on Tuesday.
He said, “Some party leaders in Abeokuta South, including Titi Oseni-Gomez and Lai Karounwi, told me to sacrifice my mandate for peace to reign. They told me that the second runner up in the legislative primary in Abeokuta South Constituency 2 had petitioned the party over the primary’.
“All this to me is an afterthought, because I won that primary fair and square. I am appealing to the leadership of the ADC in the State to do the right thing in the interest of the party.”
However, the party’s spokesman in Ogun State, Abiola Odutola, in a swift reaction to Ajikiolu’s claim said the party had set up an appeal committee concerning the legislative primary, adding that there were issues in some areas concerning the legislative primary, and Abeokuta South Constituency 2 was among them.
Penpushing reports that, the party scribe explained that petition was written against him(Ajikiolu) and some other people in the constituency, adding that the panel was still looking into the petition,
He emphasized, “Our duty is to investigate, we have not declared a winner yet in that constituency, but on his part, Ajikiolu said he had yet to be invited by the appeal committee over the matter.
