
Anthony Joshua in road crash on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, two people die
The world-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua on Monday involved in a road accident which occurred along the busy highway of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun axis of Ogun State.
Penpushing reports that eyewitness account said the crash occurred at about few minutes after 11am, adding that the vehicle carrying Joshua, a Lexus Jeep with the number plate, KRD 850 HN, reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are still being investigated.
The account said the accident happened just before Danco Filling Station in Makun, before Sagamu Interchange inward Ibadan axis of the road, which resulted in death of two people on the spot.

Penpushing further reports that witnesses said Joshua sustained minor injuries in the crash, explaining that it was a two-vehicle convoy, adding that shortly after the crash, there was a rescue team on spot
“It was a two-vehicle convoy: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another person beside him. There was also a passenger sitting beside the driver, making four occupants in the Lexus that crashed. His security detail was in the vehicle behind them before the crash’, the witness said
“Other eyewitnesses and I began the rescue and flagged down oncoming vehicles to assist. A few minutes after the crash, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived. The passenger beside the driver and the person beside Joshua died on the spot’, he added.

Penpushing also reports that the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the incident in a statement, explaining that Joshua and another survivor have been hospitalized
‘The Ogun State Police Command confirms that world-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road traffic accident today, Monday, December 29, 2025, at about 11:00 am, in Makun, Ogun State. The incident occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, just before Danco Filling Station, near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis’, the statement reads.
‘The vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua, a Lexus SUV, was involved in the accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated. He was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and receiving medical attention.

‘Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene. The deceased have been conveyed to Livewell Hospital Morgue, Sagamu. The Ogun State Police Command extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assures the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident has commenced. Further updates on the incident will be communicated as investigation progresses’, Babaseyi wrote.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi was yet to issue statement regards the incident
