AMOSUN WINS OGUN SENATORIAL SEAT

The returning officer said, “that Amosun Ibikunle of APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected’..

Penpushing further reports that, the outgoing Governor, and one time Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District in 2003, before becoming a Governor in 2015 contested alongside eighteen other candidates in the election which took place in six Local Government Areas of the State.

However, in 2007, his attempt to become the Governor of the State under the platform of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP),failed having lost to his political friend, Otunba Gbenga Daniel of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Penpushing recalled that, Amosun’s second attempt on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) became successful and he was re-elected in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, with the support of leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) which include; Segun Osoba and Bola Tinubu, won his two Governorship elections, but midway to his administration engaged the leadership of the party in a power tussle on who to succeed him.

Penpushing also reports that, thereafter, Amosun  encouraged his supporters, which include his choice Governorship Candidate, Adekunle Akinlade to join Allied Peoples Movement(APM),and vowed to work for the candidates of the opposition party.
