ADJUST YOUR TRAVELLING PLANS ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN FOR NEXT THREE MONTHS, ROAD MANAGERS TELL MOTORISTS
The traffic advisory explained that rehabilitation is expected to be completed on January 31, and warned ‘the general public, particularly the motoring public, is hereby admonished of the need to plan their journey, add more time to their travelling time and take necessary precaution’.
‘From Monday, 21st October, 2019, inbound traffic (movement) from Magboro-Punch would be closed and diverted onto the Shagamu bound carriageway, thereby narrowing the Lagos and Shagamu bound traffic into two (2) lanes on the Sagamu bound carriageway respectively, to enable the commencement of reconstruction and rehabilitation work within the 1.3km stretch’, Akinbiyi said.
‘In the light of the foregoing, the motoring public is hereby admonished to be patient, maintain lane discipline, drive cautiously, avoid driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law (One Way), cooperate and show understanding with Traffic Managers as they ply the diversion route’.
‘However, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC has assured of measures to assuage the fears of road users by displaying advanced warning signs of road narrowing, speed restriction signs, as well as, make sure that flagmen are always present’, the advisory message said.
‘In addition, flash lights would be displayed at night and provide emergency response crew on standby, just as response time would be minimised by well-established lines of communication among various agencies involved in the operation’.
Penpushing further reports that, the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) disclosed that alternative routes have been provided for motorists who are in a haste, to decongest traffic along the diversion route, which are: Iyana Ipaja/Ota/Ifo/Abeokuta/Sagamu-Benin Ore Expressway, Victoria Island/ Lekki/ Epe/ Ijebu-Ode-Benin/Ore expressway and Ikorodu/ Itoikin/ Ijebu-Ode-Benin/ Ore Expressway.
‘Notwithstanding, TRACE, FRSC, POLICE and the NSCDC, would be strategically positioned along the diversion route to ensure compliance and orderliness, as well as, penalize errant and recalcitrant motorists with the intent of disrupting traffic flow.
