Abeokuta edition of university of lagos alumni association meeting records tremendous support of members

The 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒔 𝑨𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒏𝒊 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒐 2023 held in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital recorded 𝒂 𝒉𝒖𝒈𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 following 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒃𝒚 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒂 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕.

Penpushing reports that t𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒃𝒆𝒐𝒌𝒖𝒕𝒂, 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒖𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆-𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒏, with members led by 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒓. The statement by the association explained that 𝑶𝒚𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕 𝑹𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕    𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒊𝒔 80𝒕𝒉 𝑩𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 and to inform him about the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) holding in Abeokuta.

Penpushing further reports that the statement added that the National President equally reiterated that the major objective of the association amongst other was to support the University in its development, while the body prayed foR long life and continuous peaceful reign of the monarch

The statement explained that the traditional Ruler in response commended the alumni for choosing Abeokuta as venue of this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), especially being the fIrst outside Lagos State

Penpushing also reports that the royal father noted that eminent sons and daughter of Egbaland had in the past played significant roles in administration of the University of Lagos, while acknowledging the commendable roles and activities of the present leadership of the alumni in repositioning the institution with landmark infrastructures, but however, lamented the deplorable conditions of infrastructures in the Nation’s Universities

The body’s National President in the 2022 annual report pointed out that the alumni made tremendous impacts on the life of the institution in last one year, adding that because the university is a frontline in the country, hence, its products are being sought both home and abroad

Penpushing reports that he observed that getting students academic transcripts have been a major challenge to the institution management, explaining that the association has made great impact in making the exercise seamless with the provision of industrial book Eye 5V2 scanner to make it easier

The President called for more assistance from members to further enhance learning and administration of the institution by the management, while the highlight of the event was presidential award night, where Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hon Adijat Adeleye bagged an award for her distinguished meritorious service to the state and humanity.

Penpushing further reports that Adeleye who is an alumus of the university in her remarks said her academic pursuit at the university ignited and prepared her for the great exploits she had achieved and in the many years to come

The others who bagged Awards of Excellence were Alhaja Adekunle Adegbite, Mrs  Yinka Kukoyi both retired Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State Civil Service, Prof A. A. Agboola of Federal University of Agricullture(FUNAB) and Mrs Funlola Ajogbasile a retired Principal

Penpushing also reports that Ogun State branch chairman of the association Dr Olalekan Oketokun while presenting the icon of peace award to the National President said he deserved the award in view of his personal efforts and resolve to reconcile and unite aggrieved members of the association into one-fold
