83 passengers escape death as Dana airline skids off runway in Lagos

Eighty-three passengers aboard Dana aircraft on Tuesday narrowly escaped death as the aeroplane returning from Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Lagos skidded off the runway at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.

Penpushing reports that the lucky passengers were seen running out of the aircraft as soon as the pilot was able to successful maneuvered the aircraft to a stop, while there was no record of any casualty, and the passengers were full of praises to God

The McDonald aircraft with registration number 5N-BKI was also scheduled for a return trip with another set of passengers flying to Abuja from Lagos at 11.45am, but the management had to shift the flight for another three hours for proper maintenance of the aircraft

Penpushing further reports that the Abuja bound passengers for the 11.45am had been asked to wait will 3.20pm, when maintenance work would have been completed, as the management expressed apologies on the affected flight

‘The aircraft involved has been grounded by our maintenance team for further investigation. Our sincere apologies and appreciation to the passengers on the affected flight for their patience and understanding. We wish to reassure our passengers that their safety will always be our top priority, the management said

Penpushing also reports that as at the time of filing this report number of the Abuja bound passengers were seen with their flight tickets and boarding pass sitting patiently at various locations within the departure hall until the coast is clear for them to board

Meanwhile, investigation at the Mohammed Murtala airport terminal 2 showed that some of the passengers who could not afford to wait for three hours shift of the flight resorted to approach other airlines to purchase ticket to embark on the journey
