21 year old man arrested for defiling 13 year old girl in Ogun State
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 21 year old man, Julius Afuape for allegedly defiling a 13 year old girl (name withheld).in Ayetoro town of Yewa North Local Government area of the State.
Penpushing reports that,the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Saturday adding that, the suspect was arrested following a report by the aunt’s of the victim who reported at Ayetoro Divisional headquarters.
The police spokesman said victim’s aunt told police that she came back from work on the 30th of September 2020 at about 3:45 pm only to discover that her 13 year old niece had been sexually abused by the suspect who lives in the same neighborhood with them.
Penpushing further reports that ,he said the victim explained that she was alone in the house when the suspect came at about 1:30 pm and claimed that he was sent by her aunt to come service her generator, adding that it was on that excuse that he was allowed to gain entrance into the apartment.
The victim stated that, on getting inside, he (suspect) forcefully dragged her into her aunty’s bedroom where he had carnal knowledge of her, adding that the suspect took to flight immediately after the incident consequent upon which the Divisional Police Officer Ayetoro Division CSP Mobolaji Jimoh directed his detectives to go after him and bring him to justice.
Penpushing also reports that, Oyeyemi said efforts of the operatives paid off on Friday 2nd of October 2020 when the suspect hideout was located and he was promptly arrested, adding that the suspect has made a confessional statement admitting that he actually committed the crime.
The police image maker in the statement said the victim was taken to the General hospital where it was medically confirmed that the victim’s virginity had been broken.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun has directed that the suspect be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
