You lied, you didn’t consult me on rotational chairmanship of oyo state council of obas, Alaafin tells Governor Makinde

The Alaafin Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade has faulted Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State claiming  that he consulted him and other traditional rulers on the rotational chairmanship of Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.

Penpushing reports that Owoade was reacting in contrary to statement credited to Makinde at the inauguration of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja as the new chairman of the traditional council in the state, explaining that approval of Ladoja was with the knowledge of Owoade and his colleagues

The statement from the palace which was signed by Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin, Paramount Ruler of Oyo Kingdom, Bode Durojaiye declared that there was no time he attended such meeting the Governor claimed had in attendance Olubadan, Soun of Ogbomoso and himself.

“The attention of the Alaafin’s Palace has been drawn to a statement credited to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde that he consulted with the three traditional rulers in the State, the Alaafin, the Olubadan and the Soun of Ogbomoso on the rotational Chairmanship of the State Council of Obas and Chiefs’, the statement read.

“The Palace hereby wants to state clearly that there was no time that His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo , Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1, held any meeting with either the State Governor or any of the two traditional rulers mentioned above’, it added.

Penpushing further reports that the statement which refered to Alaafin as the Superior Head of Yorubaland, emphasised that there was no time he told the Governor that he endorsed rotational Chairmanship among the three traditional rulers in the state.

“Also the Alaafin did not tell the Governor or make a categorical statement on his endorsement of rotational Chairmanship among the the three traditional rulers in the State.The position of the Alaafin and the entire Oyo Community on the general issue of the,State, Council of Obas,and Chiefs has been enunciated in a Memo delivered to His Excellency by the Oyo Council of Elders, Durojaiye wrote.
