Yoruba Council Worldwide congratulates Tinubu as Nigeria’s incoming President

The Yoruba Council Worldwide has congratulated Nigeria’s President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his election and as he (Tinubu) prepares to take over leadership mantle of the country effective from May 29, 2023.

Penpushing reports that Global President of the Council, Aare Oba Oladotun Hassan, sent the congratulatory message in his opening speech  at the 5th World Omoluabi Festival tagged,’EkoFest 2023’ held on Monday at National Arts Theater, Iganmu, Lagos State.

The anniversary with the theme,’ Yoruba Indigenization, Harmonizing Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development”, which attracted members across the globe also featured Omoluabi Icon Awards to some notable Nigerians

‘We cannot but thank God Almighty for giving us a true Omoluabi Yoruba President-Elect during our lifetime in person of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who doubles as our Special Guest of Honour in today’s epoch making event’, Hasaan emphasised.

Penpushing further reports that the ceremony with approval of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who is the royal grand patron of the council, was in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, National Troupe of Nigeria, National Council of Arts and Culture, National Theater and other critical stakeholders in the Tourism, Arts and Culture industry in Nigeria .

The council in similar vein, thanked  Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu, admitting that his Omoluabi conduct pave way for him in winning election for second as Governor of Lagos State, and did not leave out other South-West Governors in showing appreciation for their support

‘This highly historical event will showcase the true Yoruba Omoluabi identity, aesthetic arts and cultural heritage ranging from dance, music, ewi, traditional festivals from various towns and villages like Zangbeto, Onilu Oba Eko, Gelede, Egungun, Eyo, Ayo Olopon, Foods, while communities like Ijebus, Ife, Egba-Abeokuta, Egun and Awori heritage and lots more will be on standby alongside various side attractions, while we shall honour and add to our highly referred OMOLUABI Hall of Fame through the confferement of the prestigious highest Award in Yoruba Land; Omoluabi Royal Icon Awards and Other events’, he said.

‘The Omoluabi Festival remains the annual Yoruba global day celebration of our true identity and existence as approved and endorsed by our Father, Your Father and my own Father, Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR Ojaja 11, Ooni of Ife, alongside our referred encyclopedia of wisdom and knowledge, particularly in Yoruba Land, who has joined his ancestors in the great beyond, the immediate  Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Atanda Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, Iku Baba Yeye 1st of blessed memory, with the grand support received from all Obas in Yorubaland’, he added.

‘We are pleased to use the opportunity of today’s event to acknowledge the importance of the spirit of Isokan: unity, peace and progressive development in Yoruba Land, and Nigeria at large’, the President stated.

‘We implore our government at all levels to prioritize education as a pivot of our freedom and mainstay of our economic development as an emerging first world nation, with the declaration of 30% budgetary allocation to the education sector at all levels in Yorubaland, which must be imbibed into our constitution at the Federal level too, precipitating the launching of the Yoruba Education Trust Fund today aimed at catering for the less privileged out of school youths and girl child, while ensuring adequate infrastructural facility is sustainable in Yorubaland, because this is what the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo laid as our pedestal of hope and excellence,and the Yoruba Council Worldwide is prepared to champion this noble vision and cause’.

We equally advocate for the training and promotion of OMOLUABI identity as from today all of us shall use OMOLUABI as our prefix before our writing of mentioning our names, because this is our pride and identity of resilience, hardwork, integrity, honour and God giving wisdom’.

‘We hope to promote  OMOLUABI School Club in all our primary and secondary schools, while we have successfully established Yoruba Council Worldwide with other affiliate bodies to it ranging from the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Women, Students, Professionals, Artisans, Civil Servants, Physically Challenged, Peace and Reconciliation Commission and thousands of affiliated groups and organizations globally’.

We implore the establishment of the Southwest Agricultural Economic Development Zone program in Yoruba Land and Nigeria, as part of measure to ensure adequate food security. Our local security must be empowered and truly funded hence the need to establish the Folumo Volunteer Groups under the auspices of the Southwest Joint Security Surveillance Network Team through our security votes money and donations from well-meaning Nigerians because security is key to our Economic Development.
