Wike, military officer engage in open verbal war over alleged land grabbing in Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and an unidentified military officer on Tuesday engaged in open verbal war over an alleged land-grabbing incident at the Gaduwa District in Abuja.
Penpushing reports that Wike was sighted in a video accusing the military officer of illegally taking possession of a parcel of land, and questioned why the officer was laying claim to the property simply because it was linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.
The visibly angry Minister declared to the military officer that it was wrong for the owner of controversial land, who was a former Chief of Naval Staff to have acquired the land illegally, but in response the officer, dressed in military camouflage, interrupted the minister, insisting that the acquisition was lawful and that he had acted with integrity.

Penpushing further reports that Wike angered by the interruption of the officer ordered him to keep quiet, but the military officer in swift response declared that he is an officer with integrity, claiming that the land was acquired legally
The Minister in his known crack voice barked on the military officer calling him a big fool, adding that as at the time he (Wike) graduated, he (military officer) was still in primary school.
“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” You are a very big fool. As at the time I graduated, you were still in primary school.”
Penpushing also reports that in quick session the military officer told Wike that he is not a fool and would not shut up, emphasizing that he is an officer with integrity, and, maintained that he was deployed to the site on official orders.

The Minister as the confrontation grew more intense declared to the military officer, he would want to see if he(officer) would not leave the site and threatened that he was waiting for the said owner of the land to go and develop the site.
Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report, neither the military nor the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had issued an official statement on the incident.
