WESSY TAILORING INSTITUTE TURNS OUT FIRST SET OF GRADUATES

The founder who is the National President of Nigeria Union of Tailors(NUT)  said the Institute has also been making progress in the achievement of desired goals, which is towards addressing the menace of youth unemployment, engendering the spirit of excellence in service delivery, reforming the fashion industry and paving way for the fashion industry to become a foreign exchange earner for the country.

“The demands for our products have been impressive. This is very encouraging and it goes to show that there is a tremendous hope of harnessing the people’s potentials for optimal use as a foreign exchange earner; Taiwo said.

“As President of Tailors in Nigeria, I am more determined to; discover young talents in the profession, train available talents to achieve their potentials in life, introduce modern technology and skills into the business and ensure that the nation benefit from the industry’s potentials particularly in the area of employment generation and foreign exchange earnings”

Penpushing further reports that, Taiwo popularly called Wessy Creation, however called on the Government and other agencies to sponsor talented youths to equip them more and better.

“I therefore call on the state government, corporate bodies, agencies of government like the ITF, men and women of goodwill, religion organizations to reach out by sponsoring these indigent’s talented youths for a better tomorrow and more secured society in skill acquisition’, he emphasised.

“We see the sky as our limit. However, the businesses we have ventured into have its numerous problems, some of which include; lack of competent technical manpower in the country. We have to employ expatriates and they earn in dollars, Investment without the support and patronage of government and corporate bodies, maybe difficult to achieve our goals and lack of enabling business envy is another challenge” he added.

Penpushing also reports that the Institute’s Director of Studies, Mrs Temitope Alade, in her speech, called on the government to give enough platform for vocational and technical education.

“It has been said in many fora and on many platforms that no nation can develop without giving vocational and technical education its rightful place because it constitutes a vital engine for the economy, social, practical and all round development of any nation, especially, Nigeria”

The Director added that, if Nigeria must join the league of developed nations, then she must begin to promote technical and vocational education which has a great role to play in its socio-econmoic development.

 The Founder, Mercyland Group of Schools, Olootu Ogooluwa Bankole, in his admonition, called for the implementation of vocational and technical education in schools, adding that it won’t give them opportunity to be unemployed after graduation from school.

Penpushing also reports that, Chief (Mrs) Iyabo Maltida Apampa, in her remarks stated that something must be done about the curriculum of education, adding that parents should bring their graduates to the Tailoring Institute, noting that there is no available job anywhere again.

The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbele, in his own admonition urged the graduands not to be ashamed of people calling them Tailors, and that they should be focused in whatever they are doing.

Penpushing reports that at the ceremony, six of the graduands were also given awards  presented by the former Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, while  Olootu Balogun, gave three of the best outstanding students the sum of N10,000 each and Chief (Mrs) Apampa promised to sponsor any two people (male and female) interested in attending the  Wessy Tailoring Institute.

The highlight of the ceremony was  groundbreaking for the proposed structure of the Wessy Institute, which was held immediately after the program, while  some notable dignitaries present at the event were; Engr. Abiodun Fijabi, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Kunle Adeyemi  who represented former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr Peter Fagbohun, who  represented the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Prof Tope Popoola and Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, Founder, Penpushing Media.
